Program Overview
Skillbridge Overview
The DoD SkillBridge Program offers military service members within 180 days of separation the chance to learn and train in diverse roles. The goal is to facilitate a smooth transition from military to civilian life.
Internship Structure
DoD SkillBridge Program participants engage in unpaid internships with the DoD during their final 180 days of service, without civilian compensation but maintaining DoD employment status.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for the D2GS Skillbridge Program requires active-duty service members nearing separation within 180 days, unit commander authorization, and meeting role-specific minimum qualifications

Service members interested in the SkillBridge Internship Program can apply by contacting a Skillbridge representative. Eligible applicants will explore placement opportunities with a recruiter based on their interests.

Eligibility requires that you must be able to complete the program within your last 180 days of military service. It’s recommended that you complete as much of your Service’s transition program as possible before starting Skillbridge to ensure you’re well-informed of all post-Service options
No, the Skillbridge program is designed for opportunities that commence within 180 days of your separation date. For more details on eligibility, you can refer to the Military Members page on the Skillbridge website
The Skillbridge program is primarily for Active Duty service members and select groups of the National Guard and Reserves within 180 days of their separation date. Some Skillbridge partners may offer opportunities for military spouses and veterans as well
Are there any restrictions on where I can participate in a Skillbridge opportunity?
You are not limited to opportunities at your assigned installation. However, you may need command authorization to participate in a training program more than 50 miles from your duty station
